A patent print poster of a device called Art of Compiling Statistics. This is considered by many to be the first Computer Patent. The machine was invented by Herman Hollerith and was to be used to assist in summarizing information and, later, accounting. The patent was issued by the United States Patent Office on January 8, 1889.
