The patent was issued by the United States Patent Office on December 5, 1911. Glenn Curtiss was an American aviation pioneer and one of the founders of the U.S. aircraft industry. He began his career as a bicycle racer and builder before moving on to motorcycles. Alexander Graham Bell was a scientist, inventor, engineer and innovator who is credited with patenting the first practical telephone.
